Rosacea Surgery - Part I


First of all, when a rosacea patient requires surgery?


When rosacea becomes into a severe condition that produces flushing, dilated blood vessels and rhinophyma (bulbous red nose). Then you have three surgical options:

  • Laser surgery
  • Dermabrasion
  • Electrosurgery
Laser surgery can produce great improvements in the overall apperance of skin wwtih smlal scars. If you have bulbous nose, rosacea surgery can help reduce the size and looks of your nose. However, since rosacea can not be totally cured, it would eventually require further treatments.

Laser surgery

Effect: Reduces flushing, pimples and red blood vessels

Laser rays eliminates these imperfections with no pain or discomfort. The heat of laser rays provokes disintegration of blood vessels. It works with short impulses make sure only the abnormal blood vessels are touched, so there is no chnace the surrounding tissues are harmed.

After a rosacea surgery it is normal presenting pinkiness, inflammation and pain during the first 12 to 24 hours., You may also get peeled -as after a sunburnt- and more bruises that may last from 5 to 10 days. Visible blood vessles will disappear in a 3 week period.

After an average of three treatments, rosasea laser surgery reduces visible blood vessles and reduces the reddish skin tone.
